If alone (i.e., no partner), the dancer turns toward the center of the set. If the solo dancer is facing directly toward or away from the center of the set, the turn may be in either direction.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"ending-formation\"><b>Ending formation<\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"ending-formation\">Individual dancer<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"timing\"><b>Timing\u00a0<\/b>2<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"styling\"><b>Styling<\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"styling\">Isolated dancer: Arms in natural dance position. Adjacent dancers connected with a handhold: Release the handhold, perform the dance action, and reconnect with the appropriate handhold (couple or mini-wave). <span class=\"full\">Couples promenading in Skater&#8217;s position can U-Turn Back without releasing handholds by turning towards each other.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">12b. Backtrack<\/span><\/h3>\n<div class=\"starting-formations\"><b>Starting formations<\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"starting-formations\">Promenade, Star Promenade, Single File Promenade, Wrong Way Promenade<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"command-examples full\">\n<p><b>Command examples<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Promenade Single File; Ladies Backtrack<\/li>\n<li>Ladies Step Out And Take A Backtrack<\/li>\n<li>Gents Step Out And Take A Backtrack<\/li>\n<li>Ladies Roll Out And Backtrack<\/li>\n<li>Put the ladies in the lead, go single file; Ladies backtrack once around; Turn partner right a full turn<\/li>\n<li>Star Promenade; Ladies Backtrack, Left Allemande<\/li>\n<li>Promenade Wrong Way; Boys step out to the left and Backtrack twice around<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"dance-action\"><b>Dance action<\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"dance-action\">The designated dancers walk in a small 180 degree arc towards the outside of the set.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"ending-formation\">\n<p><b>Ending formation <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Various, depending on starting formation and who was designated.<\/p>\n<p>Four dancers designated: Four dancers that did not do the backtrack continue starring or promenading single file in the center of the set and four dancers that did the backtrack will promenade single file in the opposite direction around the outside of the set.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone designated: Single File Promenade<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"timing\"><b>Timing\u00a0<\/b>2<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"styling\"><b>Styling<\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"styling\">If necessary, release the handhold.
